Hi guys as you may have read on the forum I'm gonna be the new owner of Poor_Nigel's "Almost Twin" series II bass in the not too distant future. As a result of that decision I had thought of selling my black Elan/Europa 5 bass but I can't really part with it so I've decided the one I use the least should go, so I'm putting my purple Elan 4 which has Europa Electronics and double P style pickups up for sale.

Here is a link to the bass on the forum and some photo's and information also.

I'm not desperate to sell it, though I think that with another bass coming along this one is going to get marginalised and as much as it is a wonderful sounding and playable bass I honestly don't play it as much as the others and it will get even less use. My maple Europa/Elan 5 bass really covers the same ground as this bass and more so in terms of sound I wouldn't be losing anything sonically, but will lose the flexibility of the bass and treble cut and boost switches which are great.

That said I'm really only putting it up for sale because I'm being sensible............. yes..... sensible.........."i'm trying to convince myself of that too", so will only sell if I get a respectable price for it therefore if you are serious about buying it please make me a sensible offer of what it is worth to you via email only.

I bought it from a forum member here and hence it would be good if it stayed in the forum rather to with unknown buyer on Ebay.

It's been well looked after.
1989 Elan with Europa Electronics ( Vol, Pan, Filter, Q-switch, bass and treble boost flat & cut switches)
Front mounted jack
Chrome finished hardware
Maple body
quilted maple top visible through the transparent purple finish
5piece all Maple neck
Ebony fretboard

Any questions please feel free to ask. I have other photo's I can send if desired.

Oh if any buyers from the USA are interested, if we strike a deal before I travel to the USA I can bring it with me and save you shipping costs from the UK however you will have to cover any internal shipping and insurance costs. I will also include the Elan case that the bass came with.

Right bedtime for me.

Wait, that SII was for sale?! That is perhaps my dream Alembic. You are a lucky man. I love my SI shorty, but a five string SII in that body shape with ebony, well, there it is.

We'll need a full report on that one.
Here's to a great 2012!

"That" series II bass, rather than being put up for sale, was kindly offered to me by the seller, poor nigel. He knew from my forum history about my interest in that particular bass and had privately determined that i would be the next owner of this bass. So emailed me and we started the ball rolling.

I will definitely let you know what it's like when I get it home.
Watch this space.
It would be great to play it on my first gig of the year.

Photos etc are in the Europa Showcase under "Other Twin". Is Thomas sending the original knobs with the bass? They were made by Mica's uncle.

If you change your mind and decide to sell the black 5'er*, you know who to contact! ;-)

* as long as it doesn't weigh too much! I can just about cope up to 10.5 pounds, any more than 11 pounds and I am in difficulties with my back/shoulder

Hi Clarky, you have already got your first place in the queue for that bass IF i decide to sell. I took it to a blues jam session on Friday night with my small mesa rig and it was sounding extremely regal.

It would be a hard bass to sell, the clarity and punch of it is incredible.

This 4 string Elan sounds virtually identical with the filters fully open but when you click in the quick change bass switches on the Elan 4 something else just adds class to the sound. The treble boost switch on the purple Elan is too bright for me and mainly I keep it in the cut position.

No worries jazzyvee, think I might re-visit getting a Spoiler but not one that breaks my back like the 11 pounder I unfortunately had to sell!

Good luck with selling the Elan :-)
