I had a late '80s black Spoiler a while back that I had to sell as it was close to 11 pounds in weight and I have a longstanding back problem (plus rotator cuff injury on left shoulder). I hoped a lighter one (<10 pounds) would come along but I've seen none since. Hence putting out this plea to see if anyone has a black Spoiler (or possibly a black Elan) they might be willing to sell (preferably - but not necessarily - Europe based so I avoid 21% import duty from US!). Please email me per the address on my profile here if you have anything to suit |

Final bump before giving up here. Have PM'd well known Alembic Clubber twice about his black Spoiler and not even received a polite 'thanks but no thanks' reply. So I think this is a lost cause but this is my final roll of the dice. |

Sorry you're having trouble. Did you see that jazzyvee has a purple élan for sale? I think he's in europe/uk somewhere across the pond. The good part is if you want a black one it'd be super easy to have any color bass refinished black. I hope this helps. Good luck. |

I'm kind of holding out on the sale of that élan 4 until I get my new bass home. In any case clarky has first call om my black élan/Europa if it ever goes up for sale. Jazzyvee |

Thanks wookie! I know jazzyvee from my UK bass forum, BassChat, but I suspect the cost of the bass plus black refin would be somewhat more than my budget (£1500/$2500) Edit: this budget is for a 4 string, I appreciate a 5 string such as jazzyvee's Élan/Europa would be worth a lot more. My heavy Spoiler sold on eBay for about £1500 hence my starting budget (Message edited by Clarkybass on April 07, 2012) (Message edited by Clarkybass on April 07, 2012) |

These are hard to find, so i refinished my black Spoiler myself :-) I think the Australian Alembic dealer has an "almost Black" Elan (very similar to mine) for sale and The Lowend bass shop (US) had some black Spoilers for sale in the last years. Never seen one for sale in Europe... |

Appreciate the comments guys. Sadly most of the (very few) black Spoilers that have come up or sale in recent months (eg, the one allegedly used on Prince's tour) have been quite beat up and - while I am happy with a bit of mojo - I am not happy with great chunks off the bass, missing headstock logos etc |

Please delete this moderators or - failing that - this is to let people know this search is no more. Afraid my patience ran out after four or so months! I have ended up buying a Warwick Thumb NT which is a superb bass even if its not an Alembic. |
