Hi Guys,

Okay, I'm seriously in the market for an early Distillate. I noticed that some of the later models have a slightly different body shape. I do prefer the earlier shape, it has an smaller top horn.

I've posted some photos of one I found on the web sometime ago but didn't have the funds at the time (I'm really kicking myself now).

I will be happy to swap my newly accuired Elan for a very good condition example.

For pictures of my Elan...

Here's some pictures that I found on web of an example that was for sale.

Hi Andy,
If I weren't so deeply in love with my '82 Distillate (and if it weren't so beat up), I'd surely consider your offer. That is quite a stunning Elan. My Distillate certainly has its share of 'battle scars.' Here's a little pic, note the non-original brass plate with red LED indicator.

I also prefer the look of the older Distillates with the shorter upper horn, but mine balances horizontally unless I use the 'Dela Technique for Optimum Neck Support' with my right forearm, which does the trick just fine. Good luck with your trade, I'm sure it will end with 2 happy Alembic owners and a revived passion for the instruments.

Hi Andy,

That looks just like the one I had, and I foolishly sold. Best of luck with your quest. Hopefully I'll find a Distillate down here (Australia) one day.

Looks like these models are getting more and more difficult to get hold of. I'll give it a few months yet but I might end up ordering a custom build.

We'll see :-)
