http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/2782247919.html Looks like the same one that has been on and off Craigslist since late 2010 |

What's wrong with it? Why does it keep coming up? I'm not a fan of the newer bodies anyway. If I had $2750 I'd be looking for europa's maybe some needs money and a series bass heck I just saw a spoiler going for $2300. Maybe I'm showing my age but I really dig the elan, spoiler, Europa, and I think it's called a " balanced K" (to me the "K" stands for Kyra, my daughters name) newer bodies ..... No thanks. |

I don't know, but I don't think anything is wrong with it, other than it might be priced a bit high. Looks like the same seller since I first noticed it in 2010, judging by the ad copy and the photos... |

There's nothing particularly wrong with it that I can see. On the other hand, an Essence without some upgrades on it is really in the same class as a Spoiler or Persuader. $2300 for a Spoiler is a lot of money in this market, as is $2750 for that Essence, but there are often exceptional instruments or unusual deals. Many upgraded Essence basses are out there because it was the least cost starting point to add features from. I have one that looks like an SC with Europa electronics and LEDs, but has an Essence serial number because of the way it was ordered. My "Essence" wouldn't leave for under $3500, but that can't be a reference to set the market for a stock instrument. -bob |

I know this guy. I bought my first two essences from him. He is a nice dude, and his gear is in great shape. It is just overpriced. But, it is his to sell. If someone wants a 5string essence I will sell mine for $2,100 plus shipping. Nick |

The flight case will, for some, add value; so my guess is that it's getting close to where someone will pick it up. |

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3268360294.html Price has gone up a bit, to $2,350. It's getting close to two years now that I've been aware of this one being for sale on Vancouver Craigslist. |

The "flight case" probably isn't. SKB calls their regular plastic enclosure a "flight case", so I would confirm exactly what the case is before I count any chickens. I doubt it is 1/4" plywood with metal edges and corners, though. -bob |

Lowest price I've seen on this one so far: $2,200 http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3351888625.html He's selling three basses (Alembic, Tobias, Sukop); offering all three for $5,500. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3399823592.html |

Interesting. The same pictures are posted in the Talkbass classifieds by a Supporting Member (paid $$ to have increased access / privileges ) and has been on the board since 2009. His profile says he's in Vancouver. Seems legit. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/alembic-essence-5-string-neck-through-immaculate-931950/ |

The Essence is now at $2,000, or the three listed above for $4,950. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3351888625.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/msg/3399823592.html |
