Still wishing for a Distillate folks...Yogalembic just hooked up with a great Distillate...thats exactly what I am looking for, would trade a Modulus Q5 for it. I have it listed in the for sale/trade section if anyone is interested. (Message edited by Bassman8416 on June 11, 2012) |

gbase shows a Spoiler at Top Shelf Music (NY area) This thing is GOR-geous! Never seen this color. Good luck. |

I looked into the bass and the owner wants $2500, plus shipping and plus New York State tax, it comes out to over $2750...from the research I have done here, it seems way too high...everyone agree? Its mint and has a nice finish. Here is the link: http://www.gbase.com/gear/alembic-spoiler-4-1988-quilted-maple |

That's a beautiful and unusual Spoiler, but...I'd have to agree that the asking price is quite steep. Though people are entitled to ask anything they want for an instrument they are selling that doesn't mean that the instrument's value matches the price. Personally, unless I found a Spoiler that I just couldn't keep my hands off of, $1,800-$1,900 would be the most I would pay. My Distillate cost me $1,900 two years ago and was in perfect condition and the guy from whom Yoga purchased his Distillate is selling a Brown Bass for $3,500. Unless you plan on keeping an instrument for life, you don't want to find yourself in a situation similar to many homeowners today in which your bass is worth a lot less than you paid for it (unless of course you decide to have a new one built and then at least you know your never going to get back what you've paid). |

In regard to the Top Shelf Spoiler, it can't hurt to throw him a counter offer. If he counters, meet him half way and ask him to pay shipping, or whatever. Never hurts to play with them and see. There is another Spoiler on gbase (Rumble Seat Music) for $3200, pretty worn, and has major "thumb wear" above the pup. The kicker is, it's listed as being in EXCELLANT condition. I did send them an email contact and strongly suggest they list the item with more accurancy. |
