This has been in storage; and now I would like to sell it. I'm calling it a '64 because my memory is that my mom bought this for me and my dad in June, 1964. So, I guess you could say I'm the original owner.

Except for the thumbrest, it looks very much like this one currently on Ebay.

It needs to be cleaned up; but the bass was never gigged (that I recall) and has few nicks.

My memory suggests that at some point the electronics failed; and being young and foolish, I decided to take it apart. So, at the very least, the pickups need to be replaced, unless you happen to know how to reassemble pickups. As you can see in the pics, all the parts appear to be here. I can't vouch for the the rest of the electronics. It's been over four decades since this thing was out of the case.

Looks like the strap button was moved.

These are some seriously out of focus pictures, and there's a lot of glare on the shots of the body, but I think you can tell that it's a bass; and that plus the ebay reference should tell you a lot about what we're looking at. I'll try to learn how to take pictures again before I put another Alembic up for sale.

Dave:

The truss rod cover does indeed cry out "Greco". Interesting project. Did you unwind some of the pick up wire onto the blue rod at the bottom left of the "parts" photo? Any idea how much you are looking to get?

Bill; yes, apparently I thought to save the wire by wrapping it on the blue thing.

My fantasy is that someone will look at this and decide to email me an offer, and that I will look at said offer and think it fair. But then fantasy's are ... well, fantasies.

Obviously I can't ask as much as the Ebay Greco, since theirs actually works.
