HI All,

Found this at toronto craigslist

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/3050342752.html

"Absolutely stunning 1996 Alembic Essence 5 String Bass in rare Tulipwood with original Alembic hard shell case. It is in perfect condition, and spent the vast majority of its life in the house "

Is this a steal or a flag? I'm still asking for the serial no.

Re: Alembic Essence 5 String Bass - Tulipwood - - $800
From:Dean Jonson <dean.jonson23@gmail.com>

Hello

The product is available and it is in perfect condition working great.First of all I can't make this deal face to face because I am in United Kingdom with my job. I want to continue this transaction through a 3rd part Interlink Express Delivery...I am in England and I have talked with the people from Interlink already. The item is at them ready for delivery and you don't need to pay the shipping.I worked with them in the past and everything was fine..Please let me know if you want more info about the delivery process.

Thank you

This arrived from Dean (I need your full name and address for I can start the shipping to you and Interlink Express will send you an invoice in which they will mention all the transaction details The shipping is free. The transaction is pretty simple : you will receive the invoice and this mean that I sent the unit and after you receive this invoice you must send the money to their agent . Immediately after the transfer will be checked Interlink will come with the package at you. The money will stay on hold until you decide if you keep the item or not. If the unit has a problem or something that is wrong you will have 10 days to send it back and you will receive the money back. Everything is through Interlink Express, you have insurance from them and you are covered. Let me know.)
I would like to buy this has anyone seen this sort of thing before

It's a fraudulent Craigslist posting. Art posted a link to the real sale page above.

I would run in the opposite direction as quickly as possible! Plenty of honest people out there to buy Alembics from. I'm not sure this is one of them. I have never bought anything from EBay or Craigslist but, from everything I've read about scams, this sounds like a doozy.

Mike; as Bunglalow Bill pointed out above, this is a classic craigslist scam.

I once had a craigslist sale and a guy said he would pay me more than my asking price, but he couldn't come by because he was at sea on an oil rig. He would pay through Western Union and send someone to pick it up.

I've experienced two of these attempted scams recently both of which were about as poorly developed as one would expect form an individual with no ethics. The first offered me $100 more than I was asking for the piece I was selling and then indicated that since he was too busy and important to make a trip to my house to pick it up if I would only provide him with my address, and PayPal account number he would have his "agent" pick it up and deliver it to him.

The most recent experience just happened on Friday. I'm currently attempting to sell an expensive Time Trial bike to help pay for a build. This is the response I received from "Tonya" (complete with a picture in military uniform mind you).

Do you still have the item still for sale? I hope it's good condition? Thanks for your swift response, I'm seriously interested in buying this for my Father as gift, your asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I've seen lately, I'll take it. I would have loved to come check it out my self but am currently in camp as military sere instructor for new recruits. I however squeezed out time to check this posting as all personal dealings are highly restricted here, I really want this as a surprise gift for my Father so I won't let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him and due to the fact that phone calls making are restricted......I will be paying you with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal email address,(Paypal ID) so i can pay in right away. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. I'll need your name, the pickup address or location and please include your PayPal email address for the payment and send me some recent pictures if available And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. I await your reply asap Thanks Tonya USAF

Checking out Tonya on Google, she has over $15,000 in reported damages due to her scamming people.
