I am looking to finance the purchase of an Alembic 4 String(Rogue)...or trade up for one. I have to say goodbye to 5-string basses due to a car accident and an injury to my thumb. I have had this bass for about 6 months. I purchased it from Bass Northwest for $1950 Shipped. There is one blemish that it came with, that you will see in the pics. Other than that this bass is in near mint condition. I am looking to get $1875 for it shipped in the CON US. More pics available upon request. |

Are you still selling this bass? I'm in the market, and seriously need to procure one of these basses. Also, is it equipped with Bartolini or EMG pickups? |

I've played the Modulus Q5 in the past and I would recommend that you install bartolinis in the bass if it doesn't already have it. The EMGs with the graphite neck is a little too much IMHO. Good luck. They're pretty nice basses. |

I spoke with somebody earlier today who told me the same thing- lots of punch with the EMGs but lacking in depth and warmth. Thanks for the advice! |

I found that to be the case on a couple neck through Modulus basses I owned in the past. I blamed it more on the graphite neck-through than the electronics, but I know EMGs have a tendency to be overly crisp. If you use tubes in your rig, though, it works very well. Nothing lacks depth and warmth when it's plugged into a Mesa 400.... -bob |

Does anybody know the effect, if any, that a chechen fretboard would have on the punchiness of the EMGs? |

The Chechen fingerboard will soften the sound, but I still recommend the Bartolini's. Plus swapping out pickups is not a costly proposition if you're buying a Modulus that has EMGs installed. Last year I sold my Modulus Q5, my NS Design Standup and a bunch of other things to finance my Brown Bass build which I hope to have soon! |

Do you know anything about how a chechen fretboard would interact with the EMGs? I'm wondering with they would soften the punch a little. Thanks. |
