Time to move on as they say, with a wedding and upright lessons to pay for this bass needs a home where she'll get played. Bought it from Danno a few years back and am asking $2750.00 shipped Conus. 9+ shape plays fantastic.

Hey bear, its Craig....still saving, was hoping to have purchased this from you buy now. I understand you need to finance things. I have learned its best to keep to myself until I have the bread in hand....especially when it comes to an Alembic. Just to painful to watch these beauties come and go. It does give me hope though that there is always someone selling one here and there and my day will come.

I was thinking about buying it around the holiday season in 2008 when Danno first offered it up. In fact, I am not sure he had offered it until I saw it in his group pic and asked about it while he was selling other things. Scale is 32". Woods are the standard recipe with a nice walnut top. Danno had it refinished, so it was very clean in 2008 when he was selling it. It is 89D5675. It only lacks LEDs for being perfect for me, and I'd find a way to buy it now if I had the money.

This is a great one, but probably the wrong time for me, nonetheless. I'm getting to be a 5'er guy. What're the neck and heel widths on this bass? How strong is the B string(I'm getting pretty comfy on a Modulus Q5)?

I can testify that this is a great bass. Complete refinish by Alembic and sounds wonderful. Its a bargain at that price.

A pic when it was a Joisey resident.

Thanks Danno. Looks like she's going to the Mothership for a quick once over and then hopefully on to Washington St. I love this bass but my love for upright bass and the lessons needed to reveal it's secrets are more important at this point in my life and she needs to be played more. Nuff said I was\am proud to have been a custodian for this lovely instrument. Bear

Simandl Books for Double Bass have been the standard books that I hear most people have trained from (Including me).A few other books I would recommend are, Solos in the Thumb Position "Michael Moore", Solos for the Double Bass, Those books will be more than enough to chew on! (ah heh, heh, heh!)

Charles that's a nice series I distillate you have there. Simandl is a great book for double bass, I spent about two years studying out of that book in my younger years, and got tons of goodness out of that, cheers from a son to be alembic owner;). ...........B.

This ones on it's way to the mothership, and then Brian's casa! Dude really does have an awesome, "amazing" wife. I talked at length with her and he is one lucky guy. Thanks for the Simandl tip Charlie, someday i hope to check his books out but for now it's the Rabbath Method as that is what my teacher has goin on. I have no sight reading skills YET, so I am starting from the beginning playing mostly arco so i can get my intonation going on :-}... This is a very humbling instrument to learn. -Bear
