It's painted red, but the controls are bolted to a removable Koa wood plate. Also, the fretboard is Pao Ferro and it looks like a set-neck. I believe he posted on here a year or two ago stating that. He did so in one of the 'Seen on ebay' threads where one of his basses was being sold. I'd dig it up, but my search tools when it comes to this forum are sorely lacking.
