Here's a nice combination.
If you like the look of a Rickenbacker, but want the sound of an Alembic.
It's priced right with a $1500 BIN.

Something here is not very clear to me, and something else I don't understand. So... Did Alembic made Ric retrofits sometime? Are those pups legit? And then... Why snapping off the toggle switches? At least the big one... Two vol + Two tone knobs doesn't sound very Alembic-familiar to me... May this be just a couple of P-type Activators circuit put together? I would have gone by filter + freq + switch, thus using all there is in there... dunno...

Alembic will make any pickup shape to be retrofitted into any space(Rickenbacker, Gibson, etc.) so the pickups are legit, also notice that the bridge pickup is bigger than the neck one so it couldn't be a split p style

This is the Alembic "RK" set:

There's a picture of the electronics in the listing, looks like vol, vol, filter setup (I don't see anything connected to the switches and passive tonepot)

With the Rickenbacker's Maple neck-through construction, I'm guessing that this will give a sound close to an Essence.

Oh man, don't do that to me! Looks sweet. Several times I have either missed out on a bass like this (remember the Mapleglo early 4003 with the split pickguard?) or passed on Ric Activators. Thing is, I like the way stock Rickenbacker pickups sound too, but would love to have an Activated-Ric in the stable! (unfortunately I won't be able to pick this one up)

Gee, does it come with a 'Ron-O-Sound' stereo box?

Oh yeah, and . . . . I'd give anything IF Alembic would make an Activator where they'd put a FatBoy into a MusicMan shell: THAT would be a SMOKING hot update for bass that already has pretty good pickups, but the idea of a StingRay 5 with a FatBoy makes me weak in the knees.

One more for the 'Suggestion Box'.
