Ouch, I hope he didn't spend much on it, or he could be in for a terrible surprise. Someone should contact him so that he doesn't pass this along to anyone else (at least not at that price). |

If that is an Alembic bass, I have to be Napoleon. I don't know whether to mock or feel sorry for people who fall for such obvious scams. What is that thing, anyway? A Japanese-made Precision knockoff? |

I think he KNOWS it is a fake, he has a website devoted to it, evidently. Either that, or he has purposely stolen pics of a phony Elan (Samick Hi Tec 1?) to sell..maybe nothing at all? http://untweb.tripod.com/mgalfor.htm (Message edited by jim777 on October 13, 2012) |

I don't know whether that's his website or someone else's but I sent him and Craigslist notification that this needs to be removed as soon as it popped up. The fact that it is still up suggests that this is probably not a case of something thinking he has and is selling an Alembic. |

Something is very wrong on this whole thing! Maybe the dog in the photo posted the ad? They can't tell the differance! And on the website he says Alembic offered to buy this bass and put the amount towards a new one? Maybe on Halloween we can throw this fake on a bonfire. |

From the above-referenced site: "...A FINAL WORD ABOUT ALEMBIC... When I first saw this bass, I attempted to contact Alembic via their websites online contact form, giving them a general description of this Unfortuneately,[sic]by the time I received a response, it was too late. I would like to let it be known that the fine folks at Alembic have offered to buy this forgery from me and apply the amount towards a real Alembic." Offered to buy the bass for credit towards a real Alembic! WOW! How many other companies would do this? Kudos to Susan, Mica, Ron, Mary, Bob, James, and all the people at Alembic who perform the magic. Bill, tgo |

IF (and we don't really know this for sure) the guy selling the bass on Cragislist in MN is the same guy who created the website AND the good people at Alembic really did offer to buy the bass and credit the amount towards a new Alembic, then this guy is about as SLEAZY as they come. Someone goes WAY out their way to help him correct a wrong and he turns around and attempts to wrong an innocent 3rd party. |
