Just wanted to let everyone know that I am putting up a really nice old 70's f-2b alembic pre amp on ebay for sale. I know they can be kind of hard to come by since they are back ordered and thought someone out there might be looking for one. I just listed it but it has not shown up on the ebay search yet. I guess it takes a little time to register. Look for it this weekend if you're interested. Here is the description:

This is a vintage alembic f-2b pre amp in solid working condition. Anyone who has had the pleasure of playing through one of these knows it is as good as it gets for bass preamps. It has a great warm tube sound, is extremely user friendly, and is built like a tank. Each channel has a volume control, 2 inputs, a bright switch, bass, mid, and treble controls. There are 1/4" outputs for each channel and a 1/4" summed mono output. This f2-b is an older design that does not have an effects loop or xlr outs. This amp was professionaly rebuilt in the 90's and had any old wiring/pots replaced making it extremely reliable, espescially for its age. This one is #401 so it was built fairly early in the histroy of the company. My guess would be sometime in the 70's. As for the minor deficiencies: There are red pieces of plastic that were once on the tips of the knobs that have been removed from all of the knobs except the volume knobs. This was a cosmetic decision that actually improved the look of this amp. When purchased this amp had one tip missing from one knob and I found that cosmetically it looked much better with the eq knobs all in natural black without the red plastic. Also one of the plastic knob covers has a small crack in it but is holding together just fine. The unit has some scratches/paint chips on the housing typical of an older rack mounted unit that has seen a good deal of use. This preamp does not have the most perfectly pristine look but aside from the few minor cosmetic issues listed above it is rock solid. This baby has had some adventures for sure, but is going strong and ready for more.
