Now that I've had a prolonged taste of Alembic, I find myself lusting for more.

The first bass I purchased was a medium scale Distillate. Then I had a build done on a custom Signature Deluxe which I received around the 1st of the year (I promised I'll get photos for the showcase but the in-door efforts I've taken so far look so bad compared to what people have posted that I'm more than a little embarrassed to put them up).

At this point the Signature is all I'm playing. My 86 Distillate is gathering dust and my 1973 EB-3 has even more dust on it. I love the short scale but...well you know it's not an Alembic and once you have tasted the fruit of that tree it's hard to accept anything else. I've been thinking about attempting to sell my other two basses and try to find a used SC or brown bass.

My question is...given what people have seen SCs and Browns going for on the market, would the sale of my Distillate and EB-3 at reasonable prices give me a chance at acquiring a used SC or Brown? The Walnut Distillate is close to immaculate with no buckle wear, scratches, or nicks other than a fine 3/4 long "finish only" crack near the jack. The EB-3 is all original with two dings on the edges that can't be seen and no cracking of the finish. Unfortunately, its not the more coveted Cherry version but rather the brown walnut finish.

Shoot..what you have sounds like a well balanced bass meal to me.

Having 3 short scales is a bad idea anyway..unless you're that tall guy I keep seeing on youtube that's always playing some instrumental song about a schoolin'.

Although the larger guys among you might consider anything below a 34 to be a short scale, at this time, only my EB-3 is a shorty. The other two basses I have are medium scale. I do like the short scale feel but the sound of EB-3, even tweaked through the F1-X, doesn't do it for me anymore. The goal is to have one medium scale (the new Signature Deluxe) and one short scale (an Alembic) in my quiver.

Jazzyvee. Thanks for the heads-up. That 's a beautiful bass. I missed that one and have PMed the seller.
