Anyone else look at this thing on eBay? Except for the body shape, it looks like it came out of Santa Rosa. The electronics, the bridge and sustain block, the dual rods and cover, medium scale 5 with relatively narrow spacing. It's a very interesting piece and I am considering taking a run at it. Anyone have a comment?

It looks like an employee project because those are alembic pups & alembic bridge,& sustain block & spyder tail peices, also the elecs looks like vol-pan-filter and a Q switch, also the thread states that guy who made it once was employed at alembic so i wouldnt be surprised if that bass was born @ alembic.

I think it's the red bass they are trying to sell.

Nope - it's just the opposite. The red one is for sale at Bass Alone (about $1200 or so), and the pictures were included for comparison. The maple bass not only lacks a serial number, but seems to have no markings of any kind. I can't say that it looks much like the red one, so I'm not sure there's any real confirmation about the origin of the bass that is for sale. I wouldn't be interested at all, but the construction appears to be very good and the electronics/hardware look like Alembic factory stuff.

It also looks like a quilty/birdseye maple body with a flame top and about an 11 piece laminated maple neck. It even looks like an Alembic adjustable nut. Looking at the design and parts, I have a hard time believing this wasn't built with a lot of Alembic resources.

Yep, and I might have bought it the first time around, but I was put off when you restarted the auction.

Good luck.
