maybe I'm chasing a ghost but I'm looking for a 5 string USA Jazz bass with a maple board. does anyone here have one? I'm thinking Fender but it doesn't have to be... I'm open to help/suggestions. please and thanks....

Alembic is still the best, just so we're all clear on that.

The best 5 string Jazz Fender ever put out was the Jazz Plus Deluxe 5. It had Kubicki electronics and Lace Sensor pickups...Schaller hardware. These aren't very popular with the Fender enthusiasts...so they're usually cheap at price. They were made from 1990 to 1994.

Oh I forgot to mention... I don't know anything about the history of jazz basses (other than the obvious). I know I don't really care for the 5 in line heads... I heard the one's made after '08 are bad ass.... I have Alembic, Spector, lakland, Zon, Warwick, aria, Ibanez, dean, epi, etcetera never looked at or cared for fender.

I just bought an amp and the bass I demo'd it with was...a fender 5 with a maple board! He wouldn't sell it, and I'd feel bad killing the gentleman for his bass, so I'm looking. Keep your eyes peeled! Keep it coming guys!

The Modulus Genesis VJ and their Vintage Js are great fender style basses. They're pretty affordable too. But they're only four string.

I think Fender made a Jazz Deluxe fiver with a maple board. I have a Precision Deluxe 4 string with a maple board and just love the tone. Fender purists don't seem to like them for some reason though, maybe the fact that they are active, but they have a great range of tones. The maple board is two-piece. Used price is reasonable too.

I gig with mine all the time. Plus it matches my shirt!

I have the correct Alembic P bass setup. One of the single pots has been replaced with a new one and the other spins all the way around but works fine.
