With two Signatures and a Distillate now in the stable, the next Alembic piece on my wish list is a Superfilter. If anyone has one or happens to see one up for sale please let me know.

How often do they come up used? or should I look at saving up the cash for a new one.

They come up used every now and then, but I would imagine you'd save up for a new one faster than a used one would appear.

I'm looking at possibly purchasing an SF-2 from a respected member, but am trying to determine age before making an offer. Since he purchased it used himself, he's unsure. I seem to remember a post in which this was covered (but it might have been a post re F-1X or F-2B) but can't seem to locate it. Can anyone be of help?

I have to say I wouldn't sweat it. These things are pretty overbuilt with excellent quality components. Unlike the F2B or F1X, there are no tubes, filter caps or anything else that requires maintenance, even on a decades schedule. I would imagine that they'll last a good 75 years without an issue, unless they are horribly abused.
