While I've seen many over priced Alembic Basses over the years this one take the cake. Although it appears to be a nice example of a Distillate in Coco Bolo, $5,000 will get one a Series I or possibly even an older, well worn Series II. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330961409014&item=330961409014&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466 |

Beautiful bass. Five grand for a bass that's boutique, (and) vintage(I think older wood sounds better) doesn't sound so bad. That price would only bother me if I knew how other Alembic's are under-valued. |

Aim high . . . I guess. I wouldn't pay that much for a bass that is missing two of the back covers screws! :-D It really is a looker with that sexy dark top. |

I paid $3,500 for mine, but it's all premium..and the body has almost as much wood mass as a Series II Omega. What am I sayin'..every Alembic out there is all premium. |

Don`t forget the $50.00 Shipping charge. Hey my 1981 "vintage 1 owner" Distillate must really be worth... LOL |

Everyone of course has the right to ask what they want for an instrument but I hate to see a bass as nice as this one hanging around a store forever because it is so "over-valued." Yes, someone who doesn't look to see that most Distillates go for between $2,000-$2,500 (mine is an '86 that I've attempted to sell for $2,100 with no takers) or that for this price one can get a series bass if patient, may actually pay this price but, how many months/years is this bass going to hang on a rack with no fingers touching its keyboard. |
