I am after a vgc second-hand (pre-loved as today's jargon has it) Stanley Brown bass. Alternatively a SC in walnut or cocobolo finish, but Brown bass preferred. I am based in London, UK so it probably has to be a UK or European based seller for reasons of US import duty. I have a ton of positive feedback on the UK forum BassChat (jazzyvee knows me from the forum) under username Clarky so have no fear dealing with me! |

Hey Clarky, All the best with the search I haven't seen any for sale in the UK for a good while. But I will keep my eyes open. Jazzyvee |

Thanks jazzyvee. I have been contacted about one possibility but just need to check whether its affordable once I take account of shipping from US and US-to-UK import duty. Fingers crossed! |

Update: I was offered a quite gorgeous bass from the US but by the time import duty and shipping added on it was beyond my means, sadly. Still looking and almost certainly it will have to be a UK or European seller |

Please close or delete this thread. Unexpected large household bill means I have to put this search on ice for the time being |

OK, after selling some double bass gear, the search resumes but given some longstanding back and left hand injury issues the bass has to weigh comfortably less than 10 pounds (preferably in region of 9) and would ideally have the Stanley taper width nut. Brown bass would be my preference aesthetically or a dark wood coloured SC |

Thanks Slawie. I had spotted this one when it was on Australian Gumtree a couple of weeks back but the seller seems not to want to ship overseas unfortunately (I have messaged him) Thanks for the heads up though :D |

ha ha! I have sent another message, hoping the lack of bids so far persuades the seller to be a bit more amenable to a pom buyer (maybe the Gabbatoir slaughter will make him take pity on me too) |

Excellent Just had a look at the picture. Hope it doesn't feel too heavy for you with the way it balances. Jazzyvee |

Thanks jazzyvee, will see about the balance when it arrives but the overall weight of BB's tends to be friendly to my back, according to my research. Don't suppose you know of anywhere in the UK that supplies a US style 1/4" wrench/spanner that would work as a truss rod adjuster, by any chance? The bass doesn't have any tool kit with it unfortunately. I've already ordered some Flitz to polish up the brass and a set of Alembic short scale strings |

You can get the wrench from any decent car spares place, probably not Halfords though, which is where I got mine from before I had basses where they were included. Jazzyvee |
