Immaculate 1997 Hamer Chaparral (B12-L) American Made bass for sale. This bass has rarely been used. It comes with it's original hardshell Hamer case. It is in beautiful condition with no chips or dings. It is in fully functional condition and plays and sounds amazing. It's known as the "pocket piano". Fully setup with new strings and one extra set of strings. The strings are around $50/set. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-12-string-bass-strings-string-set-musicvox-waterstone-chandler-/350738372300)

Asking $1900 or best offer.

What Hamer says: In 1978 Hamer constructed the world's first twelve string bass. The design was based upon the ancient Tiple with four groups of three strings. Easier to play than it would appear, every bassist owes it to themselves to have one in their collection. Sometimes called the "pocket piano," it is a bold sonic statement that is perfect for trio applications as well as ensemble settings. The twelve string has a thunderous roar and stinging overtones that are the signature sound of this unique instrument. Also available as an eight string, the Chaparral bass is another icon of Hamer history. List price = US$4,200

This makes me long for my custom Hamer 12 that they built for me back in 1995 or so.

It was a US built Chaparral long scale with all black hardware, an ebony fretboard, and black mother of pearl boomerang inlays. They liked the idea of doing a "none more black" 12 string so much they did the black hardware, ebony fretboard, and black mother of pearl inlays for no extra charge.

Sadly I sold it around 1997 and last I heard it moved to eastern Europe.

Sad.
