Just called them up. I shouldn't have gotten any hopes up on the asking price because it is Rudy's, but its on consignment for $10,750.

Guy on the phone was VERY nice and helpful though. I guess it belongs to a friend of the store.

We'll see how long it sits.

Very nice guitar but I think $10,750 is quite a lot especially considering I paid significantly less than that for this much newer 2002 Series I guitar 3 years ago and it was on consignment sale at GuitarRez.

It would be interesting to see what Bill TGO thinks as he is on the ball with these things.

I think at that price it's going to sit on consignment for a LONG time. Alembic refers to this as MSG - Medium Scale Guitar. It not only has a smaller body than the standard point, but also has the "Gibson" scale length of 24 3/4" as opposed to the "Fender" scale of the standard point body guitars - 25 1/2".

These have been going on eBay in the $2500-$3500 range, with perhaps up to $4000 for a truly unique example. Rudy's is a great shop, one of the few old 48th street shops still left. They do tend to ask top dollar for their vintage instruments. The last time I was there, around two years ago, they had several pre-CBS strats for which they were asking $40-$50K.

Bill, tgo

There's wishful thinking and then there's just plain insanity. And the worst part is that you'd come off sounding like a complete douche to them even if you made a MORE than generous offer.

Ouch. That's just way too much to realistically expect. Pretty guitar though.
