Who built this ? It has the Alembic Logo on the head stock ! Claims to have "Signature Electronics" ( already a contradiction ! ) http://southcoast.craigslist.org/msg/4190938315.html |

Nice looking bass. Maybe the neck lams are not as crisp and the selector is in a funny place, but that is a close repro. |

it's the real deal it was custom ordered that way that's one main reasons the pickup selector was moved from the lower horn. |

If real then why in the world would they call it a reproduction in the ad? Things that make you go hmmm... (Message edited by artswork99 on November 22, 2013) |

If this was indeed built by Alembic then the writer of the ad is doing them selves a great disservice in the description. There are major semantic conflicts in the description . In my mind ; reproduction = fake. Then they describe it a " Series I "and also say it has "Signature Electronics ". Perhaps this is really a long scale "Standard Point" with Signature electronics OR Anniversary electronics and a hum canceler embedded but not connected with 5 pin power added and pickup selector switched location changed. Could that be the case ????? http://alembic.com/club/messages/393/116879.html?1321720511 (Message edited by sonicus on November 22, 2013) |

If it is an Alembic it could have been built with a Series 1 prep package. It makes it easier to upgrade to full Series when the owner has the funds. Keith |

i think it's a real alembic and still might be a series I but the owner just doesn't know it. Everything looks to perfect to be a fake, who would put so much work in a reproduction and sell it for such a low price? |

I could be wrong, but I don't see mention of a serial# anywhere. The Bass looks awesome and a great deal, verifying the SN# could go a long way. Peace of the seasons, Pete |

the serial number could be on the upper side of the headstock, almost invisable on photographs anyway.. |

It sure looks real, but is in such great looking condition. The open truss rod cover would make it a fairly early one and it looks like dual truss rods in there? The inlays looks custom and not the typical ones, the gold plated output pin jack looks in too good a shape to be original. I wonder how many pins it has. If it is real, that is a great price. |

Now, _____we need a brave Alembic Club member that is local to the ad to scout it out. A serial number inquiry would be prudent also to find out that all is legit ____ You might find your self as the new owner if all is well _____ |

Brave is the word here. I just had a friend who responded to a Craigslist ad for a laptop and was beaten with a brick and robbed. Very well could be legit, but if someone is going to personally check it out, please play it safe taking a friend (a very large one if possible) and arrange to meet in a public place |
