The '76 Series I that David just purchased is now on Ebay. The seller has 0 feedback, it's a 3 day listing, and it's one of those listings where you can't email the bidders to warn them.

David?, Nigel?; can anyone confirm that there's something wrong here?

I just saw this, and it is definitely bogus. David (DWMARK) just bought this bass from Teri. If anyone wants to turn this in, please do. eBay is such a round-around on such matters. I went to warn the bidders, but the seller has of course set it as a private auction.

Hmmm . . .

"Important: Another user may still outbid you, so check this item again before it ends. eBay will send you an email if you're outbid."

I doubt it, as I just bid 10,000 pounds. Let the person try and collect. Maybe they will expose themselves trying and we can get him or her arrested for fraud.

I went here, and reported the listing as fraudulent.

Thanks Dave. I bookmarked it for future use.

Good idea. The way the Alembic listings seem to be attracting those who employ theft as a means of making a living, that might be "frequent use" as well.

I was away yesterday and missed this. Glad everyone is keeping track of these. I found out from Teri that someone tried to scam her out of the bass between the time I won the auction and the time she and I were able to connect. I hate that one of the club functions has to be that we make sure that the Alembic traffic on ebay is OK but am thankful that someone is taking care of it.

Ditto, David. I am one who is not so Alembic and E-bay savve. Club members consistently expose irregularities that I completely miss. I appreciate the vigilance of everyone here.
