This listing must be bogus!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47072&item=7324953653&rd=1

A series I with serial number 76 AC 70...
Stating bid is $500 on a 1 day listing!

I believe that I saw the same pictures listed on another listing a couple of weeks ago.

I sure hope someone is not buying this thing. We all know who it really belongs to. I would just hate to see someone get burned on this one. The next time it pops up, I will "buy" it just to get it off EBay.

This is the um-teenth time this bass has shown up for sale on e-bay for the same starting price. Unfortunately the phish'ers have found their way into the auctions. It is for this reason I won't do business with e-bay anymore. I lost on a prior Alembic auction last summer and would get 15-20 different second chance offers per day for the same bass. I do computer engineering for a living so know better but it really does make me worried for people like my parents and in-laws who still live in wonderment of all this computer stuff.

I've done business on Ebay, and I've found that it's pretty easy to know (most of the time, anyway) whether it's a bogus deal. I always ask for additional pictures, serial number, etc. when I'm thinking of purchasing something. If they're not forthcoming, or from a second email, etc., I know something isn't right in Denmark. I have received items that were not as advertised (my RD77 Artist most notably), but others have been exactly as described. Like Keith, I get the second chance offers, but just delete them. If one is using Ebay, one should never go for a second chance offer because it's outside of Ebay and without the (limited) protection you get going through proper eBay channels.

All this being said, it's pretty easy to tell for club members that this is bogus just by the price alone. I just hope Ebay gets these scammers off of their site.

Alan
