Considering putting a bid in on this one. What do people think about the price...fair, given the condition? Going back and forth on whether to put in a serious bid because (a) I've never played a 6-string and have rather small hands; and (b) for some reason the cone headstock just doesn't resonate with me. On the other hand I've been looking for a Europa for a while and they appear relatively rare. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261379876783&item=261379876783&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466 |

i paid $3k for my 1993 europa 5-string w/ LEDs. bought from guitarrez - was consignment deal (they were asking $3500). i think about 2yrs ago now. was happy w/ that price. have since seen them for more and less. i don't think a 6st is worth more than a 5st in the aftermarket (some could argue). i didn't catch the year on this one. |

Not for me to say, but if you have small hands I'd think you'd hate a 6 string. I have proportionate hands for a 6' tall man and I can't play a 5 string. I am only a 4 guy, but that's just me. Again, just saying. I find that Alembic's have a steady re-sale price if you bought it used in the first place, so chances are you could get your money back after a year or so, if you don't like it. |

I agree somewhat with mb94952. but I do own a Tobias pre Nashville, with the assymetrical neck that helps us "finger digit challenged" types navigate the 6 string bass. The proof is in the playing, for as much as possible, before parting with your money. The Tobias is a dream to play btw. I hope to have Alembic copy that neck for a future project. |
