Mica- we all know that jerry garcia's "wolf" alembic guitar had its original headstock replaced and irwin put his logo over it-do you know if this is the case with this guitar (link below) as well-the alembic symbol is on the back-i bet at one time it was on the front as well just like the wolf-thanks for your time (and it kinda sucks you guys are getting credit as the wolf's manufacturer!)http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1863662824 |

At least we know Wolf was made at Alembic. The "W025 Irwin" guitar currently at auction is very likely Alembic serial number 25, which was recorded as being made for Jerry Garcia. The specs of the 025 guitar match our records, so I'll guess that at some point in that guitar's history, the logo migrated from the Crown peghead to the back. I don't think the peghead was replaced on number 025, at least from the photos I don't see any evidence of it. There isn't any one person that ever made any Alembic entirely by themselves - this place has always been made of a team of people that all contribute to the construction. |
