Hello! Newbie here. I've been looking for my first alembic to use at shows and for studio work. I currently use a 78 BC Rich mockingbird in studio and an 81 Aria Pro II SB live, both of which I love; but always found myself drawn to alembics and their one of a kind tones, and I'd really like a bass like a spoiler to use live when not using the Aria or when going for a different tone... I figure, might as well look around! And, several of my biggest influences and inspirationns have used them, like Jason Newsted, Cliff Burton, Paulo Jr, and especially an old family friend, the Green Man... :-) Entertain me with any offers or finds. thank you very much.

The Green Man - Nice! R.I.P.

I'm in a similar situation as you, only right handed. Patiently waiting for the right one to show up. Exploiter, Spoiler, Distillate...

> Yessir :D and it was a tragic loss to music that affected many, but, as all of the greats do, he will live on through his music. As for the Alembic, i was sad to only have found one lefty spoiler in my life that was located in the Netherlands and someone bought it :-( I'm keeping my hopes up though! Hopefully one will pop up somewhere.

Tossing out a whacky and maybe extreme option, but not unheard of. If your search becomes too hard to bear you could purchase a "righty" and flip it, literally. You can:

– order a new nut, or blank and file the slots yourself,
– reconfigure the bridge/saddles, or order a new one and
– swap the string order

Yes, the controls will be topside. But depending on your playing style they might not be in the way.
As I said, maybe extreme.

The beauty of the three models you were initially looking at are that they are generally symmetrical in shape. The horns will be a little off and you might need to relocate the strap buttons.

Back to my nap . . .

> Took me a minute to realize that was you in the picture, haha. I would flip a righty but i play a lot on high frets and my worry is that either that or the lower horn would interfere with that. My biggest gripe is not being able to find any lefty alembics like the ones listed :-( like i said before I'm keeping my hopes up though.
