Yes - that was a common build often sold by Bass Central in the early 2000's. It is technically an Essence bass, but in short scale and with the small standard body shape and crown headstock. Otherwise, it is a standard Essence model. Alembic's pricing models back in those days allowed one to save a few dollars by playing games with base models and options. Depending upon what model you started with, two identical basses after adding options could have significantly different sticker prices. I believe they've cleaned a lot of that up since. I have an upgraded version of that bass that has Europa electronics, side LEDs, and purpleheart laminates in the neck. I also have a custom extra thin neck and a vermillion body/vermillion top. I would value my bass around that price, and probably put a tag around $2500 on the eBay one. With the standard 34" scale and body shape, it would probably be around $2K. That said, it would cost you a lot more than that to order one anything like it, so you have to look at what it's worth to you. |
