I am a bit doubtful of the provenance given in the description - otherwise Phil's current 6-string wouldn't count as his "first 100% Alembic instrument" |

The Phil connection seems rather dubious to say the least. Nice l'il bass though |

Not sure how Phil's mid-70s Mission Control Osage Orange bass doesn't count as 100% Alembic. I also doubt the Spoiler ever belonged to Phil and it seems a bit overpriced, too. I would think that if Alembic made a bass for Phil it would have a proper logo not a sticker. |

Phil's Osage Orange was wired with George Mundy's filter circuit . George lived down the street from me and he also rewired wired my old Guild bass that had trapezoidal Alembic pickups and buffer preamps and Alembic bridge & tailpiece. He wired in his Pluto Filters. I saw in front of me and still have pictures of the OSAGE ORANGE Bass on Georges work bench during the wiring process . My old bass can be seen here ; http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/2792.html?1262960781 |

Pluto Filters . . . . I have no idea what the hell these do, but that name just sounds SO trippy, I can smell patchouli while I'm reaching for my Whole Earth Catalog. Wolf, what exactly did they do? I saw a 'Decal Spoiler' at GC once, and Susan was right, Alembics don't need decals. J o e y |

Isn't it obvious? They keep ex-planets from interfering with your signal! (Sorry, couldn't resist) Wow, hadn't thought of the Whole Earth Catalog in many years. Tie- Dye and Thai Stick. Bill, tgo |

Joey ____, Pluto Filters were just basically a circuit that were based on " State Variable Filters, There was " LOW PASS" "BAND PASS" & "HIGH PASS" . George also made an external version that was controlled by a double action foot controller. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_variable_filter |

To my ears and from actual application and musicality , the Alembic SF-2 takes first place in any active filter product that I have tried for musical performance implementation. |
