Check this out. I don't know much about the quality of Phiga guitars, but if they're any good, you're getting a hell of a lot for relatively little money.

I have a Phiga, its a very nice guitar. His tops tend to be far less fancy than what you see on guitars like Alembics, but that is reflected in his prices. Its a give and take. That guitar is probably really nice. The one he made for me is a very well built guitar. Very sound and solid all around.

This is the first Phiga guitar I've seen anyone bid on.

It's very nice but i just wish he wouldn't perpetuate the myth that the original wolf was designed by Irwin.

I have seen a lot of Phiga's sell on ebay. He has sold plenty of Bolt, Tiger and Wolf copies. I know he has sold in excess of 10 of the Bolts and nearly as many of that as the Wolf copies. This is the first one I have seen that has the inlay and the MOP inlays on the fretboard. He has made and sold a ton of Garcia copy guitars. They started as a side project and now they are his main source of guitar sales.

Its a pretty common belief that Irwin designed the original Wolf. Almost everyone believes that to be true.

I think the one I have, which is not a Wolf copy, plays as well as any guitar I have played. I am not going to say that Phils overall quality is just as good as Alembic's (especially in appearance, Alembics are definetly far more elaborate in appearance for the most part), but it is certainly comparable. Its hard for a one man shop to keep up with a company that has been making guitars for a very long time like Alembic has.

Id say its a personal preference thing. Phils guitars play very well and to me are a great deal for the money. He also does not usually use active electronics so if you want the Alembic "sound" then its not gonna be what you are looking for. If you want a real nice guitar that is very reasonable in price then his are about as good as you can get. Id wager that his prices will be going up very soon. He has a huge backlog of orders and he is now selling everything he makes. It took him about 6 months to make my guitar, which isnt half bad. To me you cant get a better deal on a custom made guitar if money is an issue. If you have an unlimited budget I would shoot for the stars with a real high end guitar, but if you want to keep it reasonable then he is a really nice option.
