Hello there! I'm looking for an Fx-1 in perfect working conditions. If you have one for sale at a fair price and you can take PayPal, drop me a mail, thanx!

Regards,

Armando Pugliese

P.S. Yes, I know that shipping fee for Italy is steep, but these preamp are impossible to find here! :-(

Hi Armando,

I do not want to spoil any good relation that can start here but what you are looking for is maybe the hardest thing to find in sec-hand-land! I suggest you look in some mayor German music stores. I know they ship Eu-wide. Or go and check the web on http://www.connectionbult.com . It's my friend Edwin (EVH) in Hilversum (The Netherlands)who imports Alembic in the Benelux. He offers Sec-hand on line and as I'm well informed ships EU-wide. Costs lesser then coming from US.
Greetzzz.

Paul

try http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=915358597

I know it is an "US only" auction...but sometimes sellers forget to change this option.

On the contrary, most sellers select US-only on purpose.

The US-only option is usually selected because it's simply too much grief/hassle, especially with larger items (like guitars/basses), to conduct a transaction overseas.

First, there is the method of payment. International laws are different about credit card payments and the seller does not have as much protection as he does with a US-only transaction. (This is especially true with PayPal transactions.) Also, International money orders take time to snail-mail and a lot of banks in the US will put a hold on them anyway.

Second is the shipping problems. There are numerous customs/duty forms that are required when shipping overseas, so you spend a lot of time standing at the shipping counter. I've also had buyers request that I lie about the package contents so that their fees are not as high. (I won't do that.) Generally, shipping overseas is very expensive and the cost of shipping is almost impossible to calculate ahead of time, so you can't quote an exact price to the buyer.

Just a word of advice, if you plan on bidding, do yourself (and the seller) a favor and contact them before bidding. I've had a few auctions where the buyer contacted me first about shipping overseas. Depending on the item, because of their courtesy, I've honored that request and allowed them to bid on the auctions. However, I've had a few occasions where international bidders ignored the US-only criteria and bid anyway. This is fairly presumptious, and generally I will not sell to them. (I just had this happen with a Bartolini Pre-Amp.) I've also learned that Ebay allows you to automatically file a non-paying bidder complaint if the bidder/buyer ignores the terms of the auction.

Bob

I didnt want to confuse Armando , it was just an advice.
The "ebay system" requires anyway that the seller and the bidder(s) must contact each others before any bid. (thats the theory I know...)

Yes, it was hard to find an F1X in good conditions. I've found it, but the seller sold it before I was able to send him the money :-(
I think I'll get another Demeter instead...
About the eBay troubles: You're right, Kipknee... there are lots of bad bidders, but I've never bid on an item without contact the seller first. I just thought that this could be the right place to find a good used Alembic preamp, but it seems that I wasn't lucky at all... however thanx for your interest and good luck with your auctions!
