I wanted to try the preamp-poweramp route, it s massive power that i just do not need. I am returning to a simple approach The Peavey IPR2 3000 is amazing and is really super light. I have had this for less than 2 months an have only used it a few times. In mint condition. I will ship in original box.
Selling for $395 Shipped!!!

Overview
Item #: 03609520

IPR2™ power amplifier, designed for years of reliable, flawless operation under rigorous use. The groundbreaking IPR2 series utilizes an advanced design that allows Peavey engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability and thermal efficiency. IPR2 Series amplifiers are designed with a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available. This revolutionary amplifier offers the sonic superiority and unsurpassed reliability for which Peavey is famous, in an extremely efficient and lightweight design. Advanced technology and extensive protection circuitry allow operation with greater efficiency into difficult loads and power conditions. The DDT™ (Distortion Detection Technique) circuitry ensures trouble-free operation into loads as low as 2 ohms. DDT protects drivers and ensures that sonic integrity is maintained, even in extreme overload conditions. The IPR2's high-efficiency design allows the amplifier to operate at very low temperatures, and does not require massive heat sinks to cool.

This is very tempting. Does it really only weight 8.6 lbs and 10.4 lbs, packed. Doesn't the box indicate 12.4 lbs. (though that's still insanely light given what I currently use). I know nothing about these amps. What type of sound do they produce? I'm using a Phil Jones 9B and 6B so I'm looking for something that very neutral.

I was the one who talked Craig into getting it based on my experience with my first generation IPR 3000. I've used many, many amps, from McIntosh and Crown in the 70s to CM Labs, Ashley in the 80s, to Crest and QSC in the 90s and beyond. I've quit using anything else. It's powerful, clean, clear, and deep. It's very neutral.

The only negative aspect to this amp, which isn't really a big deal at all, is that bridging it isn't just a matter of pushing a switch, you have to jumper the channels and then use a special speaker cable, which is easy to wire: + of one channel to + of the speaker and + of the other channel to the - of the speaker.

As far as the weight goes, I trust Peavey's website. When mine showed from UPS, I thought the box was empty.

I don't know that I trust the power specs, but I don't trust any power specs these days and if I start hitting the limit lights while bridged, I know I'm too loud, it's still not distorting, and should turn down anyway.

All in all, a great amp. I never would have guessed I'd have been so enthusiastic about a Peavey amp, but there it is.

Mike I called Peavey, it would require some sort of modification on your part or someone in Australia in order for it to be used with 240v.
