There should not be any U.S. taxes or customs duties since the bass is an American made product returning to the U.S.. I do not know if there would be an European sales/VAT taxes or not. Keith | ||

I've been away so I missed this question. I bought an Alembic bass from the UK a couple of months ago and had the same question. My seller and I paid no taxes and the bass arrived with no question. I don't think we "got away" with one but have no idea why Manfred had an issue. dw | ||

I don't think Manfred had any problems. I believe he just put the text "Returned US Goods" on the outside of the package to ensure duties did not get charged when shipping it to the US. Keith (Message edited by keith_h on September 05, 2005) | ||

That's correct Keith, I didn't have any problems at all, I wrote Returned US Goods on both the package as on the packing document. No tricks, completely legal. Manfred | ||

Oh well, if you are interested, you can contact him yourself, I think he's still using that email address, if not, I will try to find him. I love these older S-I point basses. BTW, there is still a used Series I five string at Edwin van Huiks store here in the netherlands. It under http://www.connectionbult.com/ new used Alembic Series I 5 string vermillion and the price has been lowered.  Manfred | ||
