Just saw this one up on Reverb today: https://reverb.com/item/565995-1974-alembic-dickey-betts-custom-natural I had read about it in the showcase thread here a while back: http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/101791.html?1302611289 A little bit rich for my blood, but that^ is one seriously sweet piece of luthiery! (not to mention rock history) |

I was in Reverb.com the other day and saw this: https://reverb.com/item/516736-guild-starfire-ii-bass-guitar-1973-black . . . and thought I'd pass it along, as so many of you like these. Joey |

I wish them the best of luck with this sale but I consider things like this "limbo" pieces as it's hard to find the right place for them. I'm not sure how many Dickey Betts fans are going to shell out $32,000 for a guitar that isn't even remotely associted with him. SG's and LP's sure...but an Alembic? And I don't know very many Alembic players that are going to spend that amount on it either. Afterall, this didn't belong to Jerry. Don't get me wrong. I've got tons of respect for the Allman Brothers and Alembic separately. Just don't see the celebrity status in this particular instrument. |

Just realized I goofed the spelling in the thread title. =( Sorry Dickey Betts fans... honest mistake, since I know 3 other folks with that same name but the different spelling. I love how the fingerboard inlay is distinctly the same font as the Alembic banner. I wonder who was doing the inlay work back then? And the scroll-work is amazing... I do agree $32k is a bit ambitious... I guess you can ask anything though. [moderator's edit: title spelling corrected] (Message edited by davehouck on April 04, 2015) |

I love everything about this guitar - except that I wouldn't want my name on the board, let alone some else's. And, of course, the decimal point being one place too far to the east.......... Peter (who, on second thought, might go with his name on the board - but only if he can wear a Nudie suit while playing it) |

Peter; when our album goes to press and they ask us for the cover art, we'll get the suits. |

I have played this guitar! I came across it at Rumble Seat Music in Carmel while on vacation.
