Yeah it is indeed a cool looking bass. If I was going for it I'd need a lot lower price so that I could send to mica for a spa treatment, refinish, move the pickup selector, add master volume and maybe LED's etc etc and then ship to UK. |

Was there some kind of change in finish back then? My '79 (though most likely almost unplayed) is in absolutely mint condition compared to this one, the finish on mine looks like it left the mothership yesterday. Make him an offer he can't refuse Jazzy, it is a nice one! |

My 78 has a little crazing on the finish but nowhere near as much as this 82 and only on the back. Not a big fan of the polyurethane finishes they used to use (at least I am pretty sure they are poly but I asked Susan about this back in 1987 so my memory of what she told me may not be accurate). Agree the price is a bit high in general and especially for someone wanting to send it back to Alembic for refinishing, bringing the electronics up to date etc. but an offer that ensures a quick sale for the seller may help bring the price down. Good luck, its a nice looking bass! |
