Yep....I used to own this bass. I sold it to the ebay seller over a year ago. It is a great bass. A smokin oldie. I used it a lot. It was a little hummie. Could use an upgrade, that's it. | ||

hmmmm the seller says Everything works very well! Neck is flat and plays well. I don't know if it is buzz free on virtually every fret. There always seem to be one or two on every guitar. so???????? | ||

You know....when you deal with round wound strings, this buzz stuff becomes more acute if you aren't deadly accurate with your finger placement. Your right hand attack and the string tension, due to different gauges and manufacturing tolerences, also have their say in the buzz war. The slightest crimp or twist in the string can screw everything if you consider having very low action. With the wrong tweeking and set up, I can make every string and note buzz if I want to. That being said, I don't recall any buzzing what so ever. This is based on my playing style. Regarding construction, I got all that stuff confirmed with Mica some years ago. I recall the back being Walnut and core being white oak. The neck has walnut and (I think I remember) maple lams. I forget what the top is. Perhaps a call to Mica or Val would be in order if you have the time and curiosity. Don't hold me to the absolute correctness on this though. It has been a while. It is a great bass in feel and sound. Vibrations felt through the body are even and acoustically pleasent. Upgraded it would be killer. The serial # is correct. | ||

Fingerboard is rosewood. It went more with the color make up of the instrument and it's pickups. It has been a while and I have owned many Alembics. I don't remember what the noise was. It may have been HF noise or a combination of both. At this point I feel like I'm guessing. Most of my old ones were this (the same) way. Perhaps I am getting old...... | ||

thanks for the insight the seller has gotten very quiet since i pushed on your comments... per mica hum can be cancelled out hf noise requires a 1200$ upgrade and lord knows how long.... all the more reason i bought the 86 persuader | ||

Please to consider: It does have class, historical value and is a great bass! The up grade price and wait time would still work for me for those forementioned reasons alone. I'd buy it back but I have others of the same vintage. | ||

an upgrade from alembic as much as i love them is 1200 and at mimnimum 1 year waiting.i know of a bass there for over a year waiting for upgrade an item described as "works well: and then no reply back from the seller on the noise questions... leaves me to suspect that there are electronic issues. granted its a classic.... if the seller was looking for 3700 then add 1200 for an upgrade. one would have been better off buying the 2005 maple that just went for 5300 |
