Hi folks, and yep that's the Big K. It's on the auction block due to lack of use. :-( I had it upgraded last year in a completely failed attempt at staving off placing a custom order. All it did was fuel my desire for a really custom instrument which became last year's Custom of the Month for November. I play Pinot all the time now, and use my Elan 5'er as a backup so the poor old Orion just isn't seeing the playing time. I hope it gets a good home as it is a killer bass. Happy Holidays everybody!

That's a nice bass, Reid...I forgot you had upgraded that bad boy a while ago. Sorry to see you're letting it go, but onward and upward as they say.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the compliments on the Big K, and yes it did sell. It's headed for Texas even as I write this. As much as I loved that bass, I didn't play it much since I had Pinot built last year. Also, I went from playing in three bands last year, to one part-time band this year. To top it all off, I met a wonderful gal, have fallen head-over-heels in love, and we are now trying to figure out how to combine our two households into one. I've got bass amps, PA gear and old furniture that'll be for sale or tossed out soon. It doesn't bother me at all, this is a really good life-style change. Uh, only the old furniture will be tossed out! :-)

Thanks again for the interest, and look at it this way: There's a new Alembician in the making down in Texas!

Since I don't post a heck of a lot, I'll just say "Wow!" here at the continuing parade of amazing instruments in the Factory To Customer section.

Well, congrats Reid. I'm glad things are working out for you. That guy in Texas got one hell of a deal for $1500!

Hey there folks, I must confess, I am that guy in Texas who stole this bass from Reid for such a price. I can't believe no one else bid, but must admit I was quite pleased when they didn't.

I just took delivery of the bass yesterday. And wow! It is simply beautiful! Looks, sounds and plays beautifully. It is everything Reid says it is.

And yes, I am a new Alembican (is that a word I must use now?). This is my first Alembic and my first 5 string bass. I have played nothing but my 4 string Rickenbackers for the last 20 years. But a good friend convinced me (he didn't have to try too hard) that I NEED an Alembic 5, so here I am.

By the way, it was a pleasure to work with Reid through eBay. If he sells any of that other stuff, give him your business with no worries.

Reid, thanks for the great deal on a super bass, and good luck with your life-style and all that.

Thanks everyone,
Curt

Curt: Enjoy! You got the deal of the century on that one! What most people don't understand is what a superior instrument even the most Spartan Alembic is, especially when comparing same to the rest of competition out there.

As far as Reid goes, we could have told you what a great guy he is, LOL! The vast majority of people on this site are good people...must be that Alembic thread n' glue that holds it all together, LOL!

Cheers,

Kevin
