There was an ash/maple Excel 5 Str. last night on ebay; starting at 1300, 0 bids had been made with about 8 hrs to go. Anyone see if any bids were made? Just wondering (looking for an excel; wondering what the market is like). Thanks, Jack |

That Excel on ebey had just the one fat boy, right in the middle, if I remember correctly. I wonder if it'd be possible (surely) to have another installed at the bridge; or move that Fat Boy and have a regular Alembic MXY for the neck pick up. I wonder how much that would cost? I think I'd like that set up as shown under products on the main site. I guess I'd have to hear a couple different options. |

My guess is that financially you would be better off waiting around for one with two pickups to show up. That said, my guess, and it's only a guess, is that Alembic can route for another pickup without incurring a refinish, and that the routing is probably not too expensive. However, you would be adding not only another pickup but also a pan control. So the electronics mods are probably going to start adding up. But I'm just guessing. |
