I am having a bit of difficulty in obtaining a used SF-2, and after spending some time on the forum and elsewhere researching the unit I am convinced (as most are) that it would be a good addition to my main rig. Please contact me at gbh82@yahoo.com if yours is available! I have a decent helping of gear for sale as well, so a trade is not out of the question (Orville Thunderbird / Alembic Epic / Crest Pro-Lite 2.0 DSP / Fender TBP-1 preamp / Yamaha PB-1 (x2 units) / Sunfire Subwoofers (x2 units) / Emotiva XSP-1) Cheers, Wm. |

Found one and purchased immediately! I am very excited to receive an SF-2 and pair it to my Eden Navigator preamp! |

Congratulations! You won't be disappointed whether you use it to shape tone for different songs or just to dial out unrulely frequencies. |

Thank you! I am going to pair it with my Europa most of the time, but I am also highly interested to run it with my Rickenbacker, Jazz and Precision. On top of that is the mighty Eden Navigator - Freshly serviced, I have the option to run the SF-2 in pre-fx mono or post-fx stereo, I can bi-amp quite easily, or I can run it mono in the side-chain of the preamp and dial it in parallel to the original signal with a potentiometer on the face of the unit. I won't be using the EQ of the Navigator at all, I don't believe ;) (Message edited by Alembician on November 25, 2015) |

One of the members here Rusty has used the SF-2 with an Eden head so I'm pretty sure he will chip in at some point and share his experience with that setup. |

You might try bypassing the Navigator altogether. I found that it was not very nice to my tone, when compared with the clarity of the Alembic electronics. |

I agree edwin, the SF-2 certainly is a versatile tool. I have been experimenting pretty substantially, and found that with the SF-2 in stereo going through the R and L channels respectively I can really hone in the coloration I like. I also need the Navigator due to the sheer amount of effects I use (which I run in the side-chain, so I can dial in as much or as little wet signal in parallel as I wish). Thirdly, it is beneficial for me to use the balanced XLR's on the Eden to run my Powersoft power amp (1.32v input sensitivity @ 8ohm), and I also have the summed Main DI to send to the FOH for a nice round total of the effects units. Funny enough, the only shaping I do with the Navi EQ is turn the 'Bass' control down a notch as the center frequency is 30Hz so I get a slight cutoff, working like a HPF. I really wish the Alembic pre's had more options as far as loops and outputs are concerned... but using the SF-2 as a stand-alone unit that I run clean with no effects is an irresistible prospect as well. May the experimenting continue... |
