Seems like a decent guitar, but pricing seems a tad high considering anything with a Floyd on it isn't selling so well these days. Just my $0.02...I'm sure I'll elicit groans from the Alembic peanut gallery....it always happens when one of the resident Alembic-ville cheapskates like myself talk used Alembic prices, LOL!

Think I would have to pass too. This is surely a great guitar, but many of the qualities of Alembics I love have to do with their exceptional wood choices. It seems a shame (in my questionable opinion) to paint one. That and the above mentioned floyd rose issue. Just too much metal for my taste.

I hear ya. I've got two too many guitars with Floyd's on 'em already. They're the greatest worthless guitars (not to me, but to the market)going. I agree with the paint thing also. In the early '80's, I wanted painted, now I want nat'l real heavily figured woods.

I don't mean to come at you the wrong way, but I would like to buy this and I would like to make certain that it is not a fake. Is there anyone who can confirm it's legitimacy?

According to the wood card it has the Stormburst finish so I would expect to see some of the quilted maple. I suspect some of it is just poor pictures due to all of the reflections.

I can see the quilted maple. You have to look closely. I think that it is a beautiful guitar.

Hi Richard, and welcome.

As far as the guitar is concerned, it's an Alembic.

As far as the listing is concerned, the seller's feedback rating is shown as "private", which is a bit unusual. But when you click on "feedback comments", you can see that the seller has a lot of postive feedback over the past two years.

To increase your comfort level, you may want to email the seller and ask for his name, physical address and phone number; then look that up on the white pages on-line and confirm it. If you're really serious, call him up and chat with him about shipping etc. and get a better feel for him as a person.

I think it's a beautiful guitar.

It's probably just me, but I find the text of the listing unreadable. All caps, large font size, red on gray, no paragraph breaks; it's just too much for my eyes to handle.

Hi, Dave,

please be assured: it's not only you, not by far, I guess... The axe, however, is gorgeous !

Thanks everybody. I went out on a limb and bought the guitar. I spoke to the seller and he seemed like an honest person. Hopefully, it's every bit as nice as the picture.

Richard,
Welcome to the club and congrats on getting the California Special. It's a beautiful guitar. We see many Alembics in natural wood. The black finish on your guitar looks great. Please post some pictures of your own when it arrives.

Richard:

Congratulations and welcome to the club. It's always nice to have another six-stringer aboard. Howzabout some pix?
