Over the past year several used ones have been in the $3500ish area, usually with LEDs. -bob |

No it does not appear to have LED's. The listing says anniversary electronics which would be 2 - volume, 2 - filters, 2 - Q switches and a stereo/mono switch. I also don't see a battery compartment for the LED's on the back. Keith |

It doesn't appear to have LEDs from the control layout, I was just adding that comment since just about every one I have seen sold in the past year did have them. A Brown with LEDs will usually have a second switch next to the output jack. As useful as they can be to those who have had the opportunity to use them, LEDs are considered to be a no-value option to some buyers. I know this because I was once one of them, but I have now experienced their goodness. I looked around at the common dealers and there are a couple out there going for about $1000 above what they were doing on the private market. In practical terms, these are a great buy for anyone that is considering springing for a new one at a price in the vicinity of $6000. Used Browns tend to be kept in good shape by their owners, so they can be a steal if you like the grain of the woods, the feel and the tone. On the other hand, if you're just looking to try out the shorter scale length, SC standards and the hybrids that Bass Central was dealing are more economical options. For example, I have a small standard with Europa electronics and it was in the $2500 range on the used market last year. One final note is that most used Alembic prices have been bumping upward over the past year, especially for more recent models. Best of luck! -Bob |
