I presume the seller is outside the UK so that represents a lot of import duty there on top of the sale probably around $2000 into the UK.

Yep, for most European countries it is about +24% over the selling price + shipping costs (+/-20% Vat, the rest is import duty + costs)

So that's a hefty price tag, but also an extremely nice bass! The top and back look amazing and the continuous covers are jummy.

Would love to see some current pics, did she get the oval inlays?

I don't know where Matthew lives but if I were in the market this would be one of those cases in which I'd consider a vacation to the U.S. to personally inspect the goods, maybe visit Alembic depending upon where the seller lives, and then bring "my" bass back with me on the flight to the U.K.
