So I'm wondering recently how I might like to try a Rogue. I'm thinking this model might be better ergonomically for me than my Small Standard and Standard Point bodied Alembics.

Just putting feelers out for what might be available in the Maryland (ish) area.

The Rogue is probably one of, if not THE best ergonomic friendly Alembic out there. It basically has the same feeling of a Fender JB. If you like that, you will love it, I have one and I'm really happy with it.

Thanks for your reply, Enzo! I've just been kicking around some ideas regarding my instruments recently. The weight of my Series bass is not doing my back any favors, and I often consider if I should just sell it and get something lighter and more ergonomic for me. I've experimented with various straps to no avail. I would probably help my situation by gigging a bass that weighs between 7 and 8.5 lbs. or so.

I may actually already own the best Alembic for me--my EVH. The balance and weight of that one are excellent. I should just gig that one only! I used to have an Orion which was also pretty nice, but a little heavy (and I sold it to get a Series bass).

So anyway, I would like to try a Rogue or Europa to see how I would do with one of those basses. You know we always want the one we don't have yet!

Rob, if you decide to relocate that "FS" Series I, I may need to schedule a road trip up to Maryland... as soon as I heal up from selling a kidney. =)

I completely agree on the EVH as well: the balance and feel is exceptional.

I have a Rogue 4 and a Europa 5.

Both are very comfortable, but the Rogue is a little better balanced, which makes it feel lighter that it actually is.

I have two Rogue 5's and bought them for the balance and I loved the shape. One is walnut, one is Buckeye Burl. They both are fairly heavy. I'm starting to have back issues that I'm trying to work through. They both are 5 string, have brass back plates and the Buckeye Burl has LED's which run off 4x 9 volt batteries, all of these things add to the weight. The balance helps, but they both are around 11 lbs. If weight is an issue you may try to find one with an ash body which is lighter than the standard mahogany and look at getting plastic back plates.

Thank you mtjam! If we only were closer than Maryland --> Wisconsin, I would gladly have you try it out for a gig or two.

Thanks for the offer! I have a difficult enough time getting together with a few Alembic buddies who live less than 2 hours away!

I've checked out your Europa a few times on TalkBass and thought it looked great! I think the weight is comparable to my Series 1, but I'm sure the balance is much better. LEDs, too? Sweet!

What kind of EVH do you have? Is it in the Showcase section? I always liked that shape. (sorry to derail your thread)

It's in the Custom Basses section. Check it out! I think it's the most recent version of the EVH. Mica told me it's the only one that was offered for sale new in a US music store.
