I recently (about 2 months ago) bought this 2004 Essence from the original owner who was, sadly, in need of funds at the time. Original "old" list was $6475.00 and was purchased directly from Alembic by him. I bought the bass at a pretty good discount and am willing to "pass it along" to another club member. I still regret selling 76AC070 and have been attempting to "assuage the pain" with other basses - to no avail, yet. Anyhow, this is a FABULOUS bass, but not quite right for my size (6'5"). Will sell her for the same $3,600.00 that I paid. Here's the description:

• Coco Bolo top, Maple accent laminate, Mahogany body
• 3-piece Maple neck-through with 2 Walnut pinstripes
• High gloss polyester finish, satin neck feel
• Europa inline peghead in Coco Bolo
• 34" long scale
• Ebony fingerboard
• side LEDs in red
• Abalone oval inlays
• Pickups: Alembic MXY
• Controls: volume, pan, filter, 2-position Q switch, on/off for LEDs, mono output
• Weight: about 9.5 pounds
• Price includes hardshell case

Essence 04K13285 $6,475.00

What a nice holiday gift this would make for your bassist husband or wife - if anyone is looking! :>)

Fire-off an email to crgny@optonline.net if you would like to chat or have hi-res pics.

Happy Holidays to all!!

Chris, is this a 4, 5, or 6 string bass?

WHOOOPS! Must have had a "senior moment", there!

The Essence is a 4 (four) string.

Thanks Chris. Darn, was looking for a 5. Hey, maybe you should upload some photo's here? Sounds like a nice bass for the price.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....no takers yet, eh? Should this beauty go to (shudder) eBay? If so, is there any club member input regarding price? Or, is the currently offered price the issue, here? All input and responses are appreciated!

Chris,
I don't know what the problem is, but Essences seem to go for a song on ebay. To be sure, yours is exceptional and almost new, but I don't see more than $1200 or $1600 on ANY Essence 4. Right now there is a nice maple that has been looking for $1299 for several weeks, but no takers, in fact no one bid $900 for it on instrumentexchange.
This is completely ridiculous, but it seems to be the situation.
Again, your base is extraordinary. This isn't a comment on your beautiful instrument, just the market right now.
Good luck, I hope you do a lot better than that. I wish I had the money...

Chris,

Ditto on the price. I suspect it is too high by at least $1000, even with the LEDs and abalone. Would love to have the Cocoa Bolo and the LEDs, but personally need 5 strings and would like 6.

I currently have a Bubinga Essence 6 I bought for $1450 this past year on...you guessed it...eBay. I added blue LEDs from FretFX. Very happy with it and will keep her until I move to an MK or series bass. I moved up from a Paudok Essence 5, which I had purchased for $1000 almost 10 years ago.

Blessings,
Dr. J

Any takers with a reasonable offer out there?

Happy New Year, everyone!
