Sadly, I need to raise cash for another vintage instrument I just “had to buy”! So, selling this amazing bass here to a club member for $4,700 shipped anywhere within the continental U.S. The bass is available for pickup and inspection on Long Island and if you do, I’ll cut $100 off the price. I also have a great flight case for it that I’d sell for $300 plus shipping if desired. Here is the thread I posted when I bought the bass from Tom Blankenship, the original buyer who is the bass player for My Morning Jacket. He intended to take it on the road – note the Here are the build sheet specs – note the chrome hardware, the custom neck dimensions (based on Jack Bruce’s bass), side of body output jack and spectacular Grafted Walnut top. The frets are stainless steel. Superb action – perfect neck. Barely any surface wear showing only in reflected light. Signature electronics and cherry core. It’s a dream to play and sounds amazing. http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/208307.html?1441688979 Tom had put the bass away and had it in storage and never got to playing it, preferring to use his Frankenstein bass. I have all correspondence about the bass and will copy it to the buyer. I played it for perhaps 4 gigs and a dozen practices. Like new. Only issue is that the switch that turns on the LED switches needs a sideways jiggle to light them up. Specs Serial Number: 08SC13956 Model Name: Stanley Clarke Signature Deluxe Model Number: SCSB4 Date Completed: February 25, 2009 Scale Length: Short - 30.75 inches Fingerboard Wood: Ebony Inlays: Mother of Pearl Ovals Strings: Alembic CX-3/45S - 45/65/80/105 Machine Heads: Chrome Alembic-Gotohs Top Laminate: Grafted Walnut Accent Woods: None Body Wood: Cherry Back Laminate: Grafted Walnut Neck Woods: Maple and Purpleheart Finish: Polyester Gloss (light amber tint) with Satin Neck Feel Electronics: Signature: Master Volume, Pan, Filter x2, Q-switch x2, Mono Output Custom Options: Chrome plated hardware Side LEDs in red Side-mounted output jack Custom fingerboard dimensions: 1.5 x 2.3 Stainless steel frets A recent video of bass me gigging the bass taken with a mid range video camera! https://youtu.be/LA1_hoxPb14

I just ran the custom build tool here on the Alembic site and although I was not able to find all the options for this bass (Grafted Walnut, side mounted output jack, stainless steel frets, Polyester Gloss finish with Satin Neck Feel) for the ones I did find, the cost came to $14,000. |

If there is interest in this bass here on the forum, please let me know. If I don't hear back today, I will move it to eBay as an auction. Best regards, Todd |

This is a great bass. The wood combination is to give a deep and full bass response with fast attack. The chrome hardware was selected for on-road durability. In case anyone is interested, this bass had the nickname "Wally" while we were building it. The Walnut has got great color zoning and figure. The graft is always interesting too. |

Many thanks Mica and Wolf. I love the bass. In fact. My Alicia just convinced me to hang hang on to it, so please consider it NFS for now. Also, thanks for suggesting i drop the price, i always get laugh at the unasked for self serving pricing advice! Video or none, it's an Alembic and they're all amazing sounding masterpieces! |

Sounds like she's a keeper too! Beautiful bass. Interesting that the core is cherry. I think it's a highly overlooked guitar wood. Stephen |

Thanks Steve. She's the best, and I do of course mean Alicia. She insisted I need to keep the bass saying it is special and a showman's bass. I am blessed. Not just Mupo wife and best friend, but my lead vocalist and muse. Of all the basses I have had the good fortune to own, this is the only one she cares for. Sometimes we need sage advice. And... As a reminder to club members, when a member lists a bass, to suggest they drop the price is poor behavior. It suggests the instrument is overpriced and is not doing anyone any favor. I've successfully bought and sold for over 40 years and do know the value of things Pierre. No need of your "help". Thanks again to all. Play on! Todd |

Just to add to what Wolf said, Todd is a man with integrity and tons of knowledge. I live on Long Island in NY and have nothing but respect for him...he is a very cool guy and connoisseur of all that is bass and more...if I had the bread I would of jumped on this deal in a heartbeat. For now I am just going to visit and check out his awesome collection....which includes a Series I (I think). -Craig |
