I realized later yesterday, after looking closer at the pictures, that same bass has belonged to at least two Club members here. (I also realized when you start recognizing individual instruments on ebay, you probably are letting other stuff slip through) See, at one point, it went missing-in-transit, but was fortunately recovered. http://alembic.com/club/messages/403/205757.html?1421784627 The pictures and serial number must have stuck in my head. Unfortunately, unless Mica ever needs help with those serial number lookups, that particular skill set is kinda' useless. =)

Anyway, someone got a very nice bass yesterday.

Well, it is now making the return trip to California after 18-months hiatus in PA. I loved the bass but I just wasn't playing it because I need that low B string in most music I play. I hated to see it go, but I'd rather see it used to its fullest potential. I will eventually replace it with a 5 or 6 string, medium scale Europa or Essence…..some day Greg!! I have to get another coco bolo top, that one was beautiful! If only my kids would not go to college….I'd have it now :-)

Man, I feel silly for not noticing right off that was your bass Dan. And ditto on the medium-scale fivers... but you still have that Spoiler 5-string that used to be Ricky C's, right? Now if you ever get a mind to part with that one, I may have arrange a road trip up your way.

Will keep keepin' an eye out for ya'...

I'm holding on to the 5-string Spoiler from Ricky C., Greg! I waited a long time to find that one. I play that one exclusively and the closer spacing makes it good for a pick, which I use most of the time. But I'd like to find a 5/6-string Essence or Europa some day when I'm ready to buy again. If I decide to buy a 5'er Europa with Coco Bolo/Mahogany some day, I may sell the Spoiler to save some cash. That's off in the future but if I decide to sell it, I'll make sure I contact you, Greg?

Yeah absolutely, but no rush though. Lol! =)

It's funny, I just started playing (bass) with a pick as a New Year's resolution this year. It's kinda' got me wanting to set up my Persuader 5-string with some rounds again to try it, but like yours, it's my main player so it's set up with my preferred TI Jazz Flats. Right on with the Classic taper bridge spacing... love it, especially for picking.

I was thinking about TI flats for the 4-string I just sold. But I like the "scooped tone" I get from the ProSteels. Nice hits but del lows not he E and B-strings. Maybe I'll get a set of TI's to try some day. What is the timbre difference compared to the rounds? I found a video comparing TI's to Chromes and I like the tone of the TI's better. But I'm not sure about them compared to ProSteels. Have fun with that pick! I have been playing more with fingers again just to practice, but I'd prefer slightly wider spacing with finger-style, so I'll look for the Europa some day!! Have a good one!
