If you dig through the archives, you will see several such scam auctions have been attempted with this instrument. It's not a legitimate auction.

To report a fraudulent Ebay listing go here. (You will need to be signed in.) Choose "Listing Violations". Then "Fraudulent Listings". Then "You Suspect a Listing is Fraudulent". Then "Continue". Then "Email". Then enter the item number from the top right hand corner of the listing. Then "Send".

My guess is that the more messages they get about a particular listing, the more likely it will get a response.

In this particular case, it seems possible that the seller's identity has been stolen.

It occurs to me that if the owner ever actually wants to sell the Conqueror on ebay it will probably go really cheap as no one will believe it's for real. The "Boy Who Cried Wolf" syndrome. LOL

All the real owner would need to do would be post a picture of him holding the Conqueror and current newspaper... but now that I think about it, that could probably be faked with enough skill. This really does suck for him. I can't abide thieves. No matter what you think about the Saudi Arabian government, you gotta admit they've got THAT particular problem "well in hand."

Charles, your idea IS good. If you watched out for the most recent fraudulent Alembic sales offers, you may have noticed, that "professional" pictures were used (taken off some website), that descriptions were copied (more or less professional :-)), and that prices often were ridiculously low sometimes.

I actually wanted to email the seller today to have him present the RC with today's newspaper on one photo. Instead, I informed ebay, and it seems that my drop filled the barrel...

I also emailed the seller. I asked for a serial number.
He didn't give it to me and said the serial nr. is on the back of the instrument. He also said the bass was already at the shipping company but we could still make a deal. This was after the item was taken of Ebay.

I was woried because of a bider(non paying bidder) .First I stoped the biding auction.I stoped the auction on ebay because I was asulted by intrested people. The guitar is still availeable. The first one who pays for it will have the bass before christmas. can't send you pistures of the serial number because the guitar is allready at the shipping company waiting to go at the buyer. But if you are ready to pay the buyit noe price I will ship it to you .You will pay for your item after I'll give you the tracking number so you can be sure an verify on the web site of the shipping company all the details that you are intrested of.
So if you want the guitar send me your details so I can start shipping.
Thanks and GOD bless you!

Hi, Marc,

the Roman Conqueror is up on ebay almost every other week. The legit owner will NEVER sell it, or would contact the club first. Every auction you will see on ebay or other sales platforms are fraudulent, fakes, robbery, illegal or whatever you will call it. Never send a dime to anybody who offers this !

Christian (the faker) (not really, just the band's name) :-)
