I looked at that one. I don't have that kind of money. |

That's good, because it's not worth that kind of money (IMO). |

The seller seems to be a person who has taken good care of his bass. And it's a very nice bass. In the listing, the seller says he's replaced the nut with a bone nut; for most Alembic owners I think this is not necessarily a good thing. The seller also says he has 'sealed' the fretboard; I'm thinking most, but not all, in this forum would think this is also not necessarily a good thing. And the 1/4" jack is mounted in a plate that does not appear to be stock. It suggests to me that this is a repair. |

What is an average price for a nice played, but no repairs done or needed, Distillate? I don't remember seeing any on eBay recently. Hook'm, Bill |

Last I heard, the neighborhood of $1850 was fair, but that was years prior to the last two price increases that have somehow driven up the price of used basses, which I don't understand. If you're desperate, Fat Dog will sell you a Distillate for that price, but I wouldn't bite. jaegerphan84 got his off eBay for $850 but it needed some work. |

I paid $1299.00 + Governor's fees(taxes man!), so I got out under fifteen hundred. The store really wanted the $1750.00 that it was tagged at. I'm still going to have to send the electronics to Alembic for the p/up upgrade and fix the e.q. switches that don't work. Mine is in far superior physical condition though. Despite that, 2,400.00 for any bass in that kind of shape is really too much. |

As a general rule, Distillates should sell for more than Essences and Spoilers and less than Rogues and Europas. The neighborhood of $1,850 mentioned above seems a reasonable estimate; however there can be a wide trading range as these don't show up all that often. |

I was thinking in the range of a Spoiler plus a few hundred would be close. The electronics are closer a Europa? By the way, there is a glut of Spoilers on eBay right now. Without enough bidders, these will turn into some good bargains. |
