I've gone back to my roots as a keyboard player and need to sell my Custom. It's been unplayed for 8 months now and it's time to find a new home for it. This is an incredible bass that is a dream to play. The bass is in excellent condition and comes with the case of course. email me if you are interested: shakeyeraz@hotmail.com

Kevin,

Ahhhhhh...is this the bass that BC refers to as the "Valentino" model on their site gallery?

Sorry to see you divesting of this beauty, but I'm sure you have your reasons. It's a real beauty. Hopefully, it'll go to to someone who'll give it a good home and play the bejesus out of it.

Cheers,

Kevin

It's one of the Valentino models, this one is the V-II I believe. (Imagine being immortalized as an Alembic custom body style - how cool is that?).

BC had put this on their web site as a custom order after I got mine - apparently I'm not the only one that liked this unique bass body style. There is another Valentino model (V-I?) that is also out there that is cool as well. I was looking for the triple-O but with a variation and this is what came out of that. I will tell you that everyone that has seen this bass remembers me (Oh! you're the guy with the cool Alembic! - yep that's me).

Anyway, after playing bass again after a long absence I *impulsively* bought a B3/122 and really never looked back. I have learned that I'm a keyboard player at heart and honestly I’m having a great time with it. I don't take the B3/122 on the road since they’re in almost perfect condition so I've invested in a fair amount of equipment to gig with. This bass is just sitting; so it and my rig are on the block - it's purely financial although I don't see myself going back to the bass.

So, that’s the whole story. Like the other Alembics I’ve sold here, I’d love to see this one go to a club member.

So, I'm getting a number of inquiries on this and thanks to eveyone for your interest so far. Naturally the asking price is the big question and I should have indicated in the listing that I'm looking for offers - fair offers as I'm not going to give this away but I will be reasonable in my expectations. If anyone is truly interested in owning this bass, then I'm sure we can work out a fair price.

So, I didn't realize that BC/Beaver Felton has immortalized the bass (and me I guess) on the BC web site.

He definately takes better pix than I do!

Bumplicity - plus a trade option. So, in case there's an outside chance that you have a Leslie 122 (not the 'A' version) from the 60's or so that is in very good condition inside and out and whose finish matches the one I currently have (need pix), let's talk. I know that this is way outside the box but, hey, you never know.

email me.
Thanks.

Hey, nice bass!

Two comments:
1) BC really does have a Series bass in this style in their store. I've played it.
2) I doubt I could afford this bass now, but it would be really nice if you [and others!] would be more open bout what a "reasonable" offer looks like. I'm willing to save up money for a really nice Alembic, but right now I've only got eBay sales prices to go on.

drjenney - thanks.

I think that the issue on pricing of basses has been discussed in this forum. If you do a search I think that you'll find some very insightful comments. That said, I turned down an offer for $3000. I think though that a reasonable offer for this bass is 50% of retail for club members. (I'd invite comments from anyone on this of course.) Let's try to work something out if you're serious.

Regards,
k

thanks - I still have it safely packed away in its case. It's lonely and needs a home.
