These "fakes" come up every 3-4 months. Someone makes a good living pawning these things around south Texas. The pawnshops just look up the value in their blue book, then try to resell not knowing they've been suckered. As Bill pointed out the seller may be a pawn shop and may or may not know that it's a fake. So yes, emailing the seller to let them know in a courteous and helpful manner that the bass is not an Alembic Elan but a fake is an appropriate action. And letting Ebay know is also an important step.
